¡Vamos a San Sebastián!

September 8-10 2026

We can’t wait to kick off the celebrations in beautiful San Sebastián! Join us for an evening of laughter, music, and pintxos as we welcome everyone to a week we’ll never forget. Come ready to toast and soak up the Basque vibes!

Attire:

  • Women: Cocktail — chic and coastal! Think flowy midi dresses, jumpsuits, or a fun statement dress with heels or dressy sandals.

  • Men: Cocktail — polished but relaxed. A lightweight blazer or button-down with nice jeans, slacks, or chinos (suspenders for some). Nice tennis shoes, loafers or dress shoes. No ties required.

Welcome Party

Venue: GU

7:00pm- 12:00am

Pintxo’s Bar Crawl

Old Town, San Sebastìan

5:00pm-9:00pm

9.9.26

Get ready for one of our favorite ways to experience San Sebastián, a pintxos crawl through Old Town! There’s truly no better way to experience the Basque culture than wandering from bar to bar, savoring bite-sized masterpieces and sipping crisp glasses of txakoli. Each and every bite is pure magic.

We’ll share the full list of pintxos bars soon, but plan to join us in Old Town San Sebastián for an unforgettable evening of food, friends, and fun!

Attire:

  • Women: Casual — Sundresses, linen sets, or jeans/wide legged pants with a cute top. You’ll be hopping between bars, so comfortable sandals or sneakers are a must! It can get chillier at night so bring a light jacket!

  • Men: Casual — lightweight button-downs or t-shirts with shorts or jeans. Comfortable sneakers are perfect for exploring the cobblestone streets. Flip flops are discouraged (Brandon has been told in no uncertain terms flip flops aren’t acceptable in bars).

Wedding Ceremony

Venue: Bodega Txakoli Rezabal

4:30pm- 12:00am

9.10.26

Our wedding day will take place in beautiful Zarautz, just outside San Sebastián, at the stunning Bodega Txakoli Rezabal. The moment we stepped onto the property, we knew it was the place for us, romantic and dreamy, surrounded by vineyards and sweeping coastal views. It’s the perfect setting to say “I do” and celebrate with all of you.

Transportation will be provided via bus from San Sebastián. Pick-up location coming soon, but will be in walking distance from Old Town hotels, an easy walk for those in heels or for those that hate walking. Assume a 3PM bus pickup!

Attire:

  • Women: Formal — elegant dresses or gowns. Because the ceremony will be on grass, block heels, wedges, etc. are recommended.

  • Men: Formal — a classic suit, with or without a tie. Think dark suits, crisp shirts, and dress shoes.

Accommodations

Hotels:

We recommend staying in Old Town, it is where all of the action is and very convenient to attend all of the events. Below are a few hotels we have stayed at when visiting:

  • Hotel Atari, right in Old Town, super convenient. This is where we are staying, the rooms are recently redone and the staff is great. Close to all the events as well as the beach. If it is fully booked, don’t panic, there are only a few rooms. This hotel is your Audi Q5.

  • Catalonia Donosti - This is a 10 minute walk from "old town" but is a nice hotel and rooms are a bit bigger. They have a rooftop pool and beautiful views. A touch more expensive but really nice. Think of a nice Mercedes SUV.

  • Hotel San Sebastián Orly Affiliated by Meliá - This is also super convenient location if you don't want to be in the heart of Old Town, about a 10 minute (very flat) walk from Old Town. This was a cheaper hotel that I would consider a “very good” 3-star hotel. Convenient, affordable, well located. It’s like the Honda Accord of hotels (coming from an Accord driver).

A couple of other spots we haven’t stayed but have heard nice things:

  • Hotel Londres is just on the edge of old town, if you can get good rates it is the perfect location right on the beach, and has a nice bar downstairs.

  • We have heard great things about Lasala Plaza if you want to splurge a bit, I believe this spot is Adults Only and honestly is one of the best locations in San Sebastian.

Pro Tip: Ultimately don't get stuck on "stars" because it is super weird how they determine the stars on the hotels there. If it seems like a good price (over $225/night) it is probably a nice place.

How to Get to San Sebastian

Getting to San Sebastian isn’t as straight forward as somewhere like Paris or Barcelona. Here are a few ways we recommend getting into town:

Flights into San Sebastian itself are rather limited unless flying from inside of Spain or from Portugal.

  • Generally if you can get to Barcelona, Madrid, or spots in Portugal, you can get a direct flight into San Sebastian, and then a quick taxi to your hotel.

  • If you can't find direct flights (or reasonable connecting flights) to San Sebastian, book flights to Bilbao, which is about 55 minutes from San Sebastian. There is a bus you can take for ~$15 or a taxi is ~$85.

    • Bilbao is a sick and super underrated town, worth spending at least an afternoon if you are flying out. Hotels are super cheap and they also have a Guggenheim museum (if you like art).

    • If you are flying out of Bilbao super early (lots of 6AM flights to make connecting flights in Europe to head back to the US) be wary that Spanish taxi drivers aren't nearly as reliable and Uber isn't a thing in San Sebastian, so there is risk associated with making it to that early flight. We loved just heading to Bilbao around noon, exploring and eating for a night, then easily heading to Airport.

  • Another good option is taking a train to Hendaye if you are flying into Paris, it is about 5 hour train, really nice, then it is a 15 minute cab from train station to San Sebastian.

The Registry

We know it’s a big commitment to travel to San Sebastián, and we love and appreciate each of you, whether or not you can make it. Please let us know which events you’ll be joining so we can plan accordingly, and rest assured, we completely understand if you can’t make it for any reason. RSVP to follow with actual invites soon!

Food & Drink Hit List

Urgulleko Polboriña
This unassuming bar on the top of the hill is a bit tricky to get to, but has the best views in all of San Sebastian. For sunset beer or wine, there is no better place. This is what made us fall in love with San Sebastián, we recommend trying to attend at some point during the week, even if you can’t make it up for Sunset.

Simona Specialty Coffee Club
Perfect breakfast spot. Everything’s good, but don’t miss the Reuben, it’s seriously to die for. And the coffee is phenomenal.

La Viña
Head here late night for their famous cheesecake, it’s worth the hype. Ask for a splash of PX port wine on top to look like a pro.

Pintxos Bars
What you come to San Sebastian to enjoy. Stop into each bar, eat 1 or 2 bite sized snacks while standing, and quickly down a glass of Txakoli or a Keler beer. The key here is to only have one or two bites at each spot, so you save room to try multiple spots. You’re doing it right if you are in each bar for under 30 minutes, eyeing all of the bites those around you have gotten when you walk in to determine what is best. Don’t be afraid to ask the bartenders what is best. The bartenders are amazing at keeping track of what you have had, you can pay right away once you order, or they will remember and you can pay for it all when you leave. The crowds will seem overwhelming, but just politely push your way in and you will be surprised how quickly you make it to the front.

  • Bar Sport – One of the most famous of the pintxos bars, the foie gras is incredible, along with the baked uni.

  • Bar Martinez – The tuna-stuffed peppers are Michelle’s favorite!

  • Atari – The foie gras is to die for.

  • Goiz Argi - One of the most underrated in our opinion, their shrimp on toast is our favorite bite in town, the grilled squid is transcendent and will turn anyone into a squid fan.

  • Bar Desy - Famous for their burger (which is the best burger I’ve had in Europe), they also have spectacular pintxos and a surprising Belgian beer selection. Located in Gros, it is a 10 minute walk from Old Town and worth a bit of exploration.

  • Bar Antonio - Also just outside of old town, this spot is also famous for their tortilla, which comes out twice a day. High quality bites, and less frantic than some of the Old Town spots.

  • La Cuchara de San Telmo - Would you like to find out that you actually love eating pig ear? Head to La Cuchara and slide into the narrow bar and order the pig ear, the beef cheek, and the foie gras. Have a nice glass of Txakoli and wait for your mind to be blown.

Bar Nestor
Lively vibe and famous for their tortilla and their giant steaks, called Txuletas (chu-letas). We lined up around 3 and were able to put our name in when they “pre-open” at 4, and then came back around 5 and walked right to the front and got a table. During the 4-5 gap you can go eat at a few other spots noted above.

Narru
More upscale, but still reasonably priced. The tasting menu is incredible. Word of caution, don’t select the “terrace” seats, you will end up eating on the sidewalk.

Maun
An unassuming little restaurant inside of a market, a small group of young chefs are putting out creative and delicious bites with a focus on hyper local ingredients. We sat down and the chef/owner came over, introduced himself, and did an impromptu tasting menu for us at lunchtime.

Arzak
Feeling fancy? Treat yourself here. 3 Michelin stars and hands down, the best dining experience of our lives.

Cocktail Bars

  • Blind Pig – Awesome speakeasy. You use WhatsApp to get the password for your reservation, it is a one man show making some of the best classic cocktails you’ve had. Brandon was super judgemental when we walked in, and had to eat his words when he had the best negroni of his life.

  • Arraun – The best cocktail bar in town, these folks are making the kind of weird drinks that mix curry with gin, ice cream with bourbon, etc. Our recommendation is to stop by before 10PM, as once the Pinxtos bars close, they get slammed.

  • Enso – Right on the edge of old town, perfect for a late-night drink after pintxos.

FAQs

  • We recommend arriving Monday if you are flying directly into San Sebastian from the US to settle in, adjust to the time zone, and start enjoying pintxos early! If you are coming from other places in Europe, Tuesday mid-day is totally fine.

  • Hotel recommendations ar elisted above, but the key is: Stay in Old Town or within a 10 miute walk. There are some nice spots in Gros across the river, but just be aware that you will have to walk a bit to get to everything.

  • Transportation will be provided by bus from San Sebastián. Exact pick-up details will be shared closer to the date, but we will get you there and get you home!

  • Check the “Events” section for full attire details, from cocktail chic to formal and black-tie optional.

  • The ceremony will be held outdoors on grass, so we suggest block heels, wedges, etc. instead of stilettos. Men can wear wedges if they want too, or dress shoes will also work.

  • We love your little ones, but our wedding events will be adults-only celebrations. Many folks are bringing their kids along, and are getting sitters to watch the kids during the events.

  • September in San Sebastián is beautiful, mild and breezy, but the weather can change quickly along the coast. We’d recommend packing more pants/jeans than you think, a light rain jacket, and layers like sweaters or cardigans for cooler evenings. Also bring shorts, dresses, swim suits for sunny afternoons, and comfortable shoes for exploring Old Town’s cobblestone streets!

  • Taxis really aren't super convenient moving around in San Sebastian, but most of the time you can walk everywhere. If you are taking kids longer distances, the hotels can call you a cab or they have "cab stands" you can hit for a ride. We normally just walk everywhere.
